Program Overview

This comprehensive workshop is designed to provide healthcare professionals with advanced skills in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK US) and regenerative medicine techniques for the hand, wrist and elbow. Through a combination of didactic sessions, live demonstrations and hands-on practice using cadaveric specimens, participants will gain a thorough understanding of the anatomy, pathology and treatment options for common musculoskeletal conditions affecting these regions.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the basic principles and techniques of musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging
  • Identify the anatomy of the hand, wrist, and elbow on ultrasound imaging
  • Develop proficiency in ultrasound-guided injection techniques for common hand, wrist, and elbow conditions
  • Gain knowledge of regenerative medicine options for musculoskeletal disorders including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapy
  • Learn the indications, contraindications and potential complications of regenerative medicine procedures
  • Discuss the evidence-based literature supporting the use of regenerative medicine in treating hand, wrist, and elbow conditions
  • Enhance skills in patient assessment, including history-taking and physical examination specific to hand, wrist, and elbow complaints
  • Demonstrate competence in performing ultrasound-guided injections on cadaveric specimens under the guidance of experienced instructors
  • Acquire practical experience in interpreting ultrasound images and correlating findings with clinical presentations
  • Collaborate with peers and instructors to discuss challenging cases and problem-solving strategies related to MSK ultrasound and regenerative medicine interventions for the hand, wrist, and elbow

Course Details

Target Audience

This workshop is designed for healthcare professionals with an interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound and regenerative medicine, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and other allied health professionals specializing in orthopedics, sports medicine, rheumatology, and rehabilitation.

Course Format

The course will feature a combination of lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on cadaveric workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with expert faculty members, ask questions, and engage in interactive discussions throughout the program. Hands-on sessions will be conducted in small groups to maximize learning and facilitate personalized instruction.

Faculty Members

The faculty comprises experienced clinicians and educators with expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound, regenerative medicine, and hand, wrist, and elbow pathology. Faculty members will provide expert guidance and mentorship during hands-on workshops, ensuring participants receive comprehensive training and support.

Course Objectives

  1. Develop proficiency in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK US) imaging techniques for the hand, wrist, and elbow.
  2. Understand the anatomical structures and pathological changes associated with common musculoskeletal conditions in the hand, wrist, and elbow.
  3. Learn the principles and techniques of ultrasound-guided injections for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
  4. Explore the role of regenerative medicine modalities, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapy, in the management of musculoskeletal disorders.
  5. Acquire hands-on experience in performing ultrasound-guided injections on cadaveric specimens under the guidance of expert instructors.
  6. Enhance proficiency in identifying target structures, optimizing needle placement, and ensuring safe and effective delivery of injectable therapies.
  7. Discuss best practices, clinical pearls, and evidence-based approaches for integrating MSK US and regenerative medicine into practice for optimal patient outcomes.
  8. Engage in interactive case discussions and peer-to-peer learning to address challenging clinical scenarios and refine injection techniques.
  9. Foster collaboration and networking among participants from diverse healthcare backgrounds, including orthopedics, sports medicine, rheumatology, and physical therapy.

MAOP designates this program for a maximum of 23 of AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA) HOURS
NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may claim a maximum of 23 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

FAMILY DINNER SLEIGH RIDE

Attendees and their families are invited to join us on Thursday evening at 7:00 for our first ever FAMILY DINNER SLEIGH RIDE. We only have room for 25 people so we encourage you to register early because these seats will fill up quickly.

The Dinner Sleigh Ride includes a 30-40 minute sleigh ride up the mountain. At about 11,000 ft elevation, the sleigh will drop passengers off at a yurt halfway through the sleigh ride. You will feast on an approximately 1 hour buffet style meal with live entertainment.  This provides great views looking down on the town of Breckenridge at night. After dinner, you will be picked up in the sleigh and travel back down the mountain.  From this sleigh ride, you can also see across the valley to the Continental Divide, Mt Baldy and the 10 mile range. Hot chocolate and blankets will be provided for the ride. Cash Bar available.
