Musculoskeletal Ultrasound + Regenerative Medicine for the Knee

January 17 - January 20

$150.00 – $1,995.00
Breckenridge

Program Overview

Eighteen million Americans are currently living with symptomatic knee OA.  500,000 knee arthroplasties and knee HTOs and 650,000 arthroscopic procedures for degenerative knees are performed every year in the United States. The literature tells us that arthroscopic debridement of OA and meniscal degeneration of the knees does not improve outcome or function. This creates a vacuum for patients with symptomatic OA/meniscal degeneration of the knees for care when they have maximized conservative measures such as physical therapy, activity modification and corticosteroid/visco elastic supplementation.

This course will examine how to meet the needs of this population through diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound with an emphasis on regenerative medicine. We will emphasize appropriate patient selection, outcome measurements and post regenerative medicine rehabilitation protocols.

Learning Objectives

  • Increase the participant’s knowledge to better perform and interpret musculoskeletal ultrasound exams

  • Interpret complex musculoskeletal ultrasound images and list treatment option and patient management strategies

  • Outline the biology and evidence for use of various regenerative substances

  • Describe when, why and how to integrate regenerative medicine as a practical treatment option

  • Prepare regenerative substances for perform ultrasound guided injections

  • Demonstrate the principals of injection techniques for the performance of knee pathologies with musculoskeletal interventions on cadaver models

  • List the role of ultrasound in the evaluation of the knee

  • State the role of ultrasound in nerve entrapment syndromes

  • Increase confidence to incorporate protocols, advanced scan techniques and regenerative medicine applications to improve diagnostic and treatment modalities
