🌟 Student Spotlight: Gabrielle Horchos, OMS-III 🎓✨
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine | Class of 2026
📍 Aspiring Pediatric Physiatrist & Advocate for Future Physiatrists
Gabrielle Horchos is a third-year medical student at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine with a deep-rooted passion for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)—especially in Pediatric Physiatry and Noninvasive Sports Medicine. Inspired by her upbringing as the daughter of two physiatrists, Gabrielle has dedicated her medical journey to advancing and advocating for this collaborative, patient-focused specialty.
As the President of the PM&R Club at PCOM, Gabrielle has led initiatives to connect students with leaders in the field through engaging speaker events, workshops, and networking opportunities. Her leadership continues through her work with the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society as Treasurer, where she promotes gender equity in orthopedics, and as Social Chair for the Class of 2026, where she fosters connection and community across a large student body.
Gabrielle brings a multidisciplinary perspective to medicine. As a Bioethics Research Fellow, Child Life Volunteer, and Private Equity Spring Fellow, she has explored the intersections of medical ethics, pediatric care, and healthcare finance. She’s also played a leadership role in the Aspiring Physician Executives (APEx) group, where she works to empower students with business and leadership skills essential to the future of medicine.
Gabrielle is especially passionate about mentorship and advocacy. After attending UltraSoundFEST, one of the highlights of her PM&R journey, she is determined to reintroduce and expand the event to provide more students with similar opportunities. As a Student Advisory Board member, she hopes to build stronger bridges between students and residents through structured mentorship, panels, and practical workshops.
“I’m excited to bring my energy and perspective to the board to empower future physiatrists and ensure students have the resources and support to explore this rewarding specialty.” – Gabrielle Horchos
