Quick Questions for Libi Galmer, DO

by

Q: What is your favorite way to unwind after a long day?

LG: I really enjoy cooking and baking. I enjoy cooking foods from around the world—Middle Eastern food, Ethiopian, Thai. I also enjoy making sourdough bread, which I do about once a week.

Q: What is your go-to karaoke song?

LG: “Jolene” by Dolly Parton.

Q: What led you to discover your niche within physiatry?

LG: My father is a holistic/integrative doctor who discovered Osteopathy many years ago. I was exposed to the concept of helping the body to heal itself, and that the body is capable of healing early on. I always loved the idea of regenerative orthopedics such as prolotherapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and finding ways to optimize my patients’ healing capacity through lifestyle, diet, and at times looking at other systems such as the endocrine and immune system to give people the greatest capacity for healing. I also love how rewarding sports medicine and musculoskeletal medicine can be, and I really enjoy helping my patients achieve and maintain their peak level of physical activity, whether it be recreational or vocational.

Q: What do you appreciate most about ExEd?

LG: I love ExEd because it really does unite some of the most advanced minds in ultrasound and musculoskeletal medicine in an intimate setting. I always learn so much from my colleagues, and I love how open and willing to share and teach everyone is. It really is a wonderful culture!

Q: What’s something about you that might surprise the audience?

LG: I speak four languages and enjoy traveling to the remote corners of the world, trying new and “weird” foods, and immersing myself in local cultures.
